What To-Do One Month Out From Your Wedding Day:

10/31/2023

Your wedding day is fast approaching and there is still a lot to get done. While a month out seems like a long time, those days will fly by faster than you realize. Here are a few tasks to consider one month before the big day:

  1. Have a final venue walk through. Make sure to have a list of questions you may have. Plan for your coordinator to also be present for this meeting as they may bring up questions you might not realize you need to ask.
  2. Have a hair and makeup trial. Buy new products as necessary.
  3. Get a spray-tan; You’ll want some time to make sure you have that perfect glow.
  4. Drink plenty of water; Again, you want that skin glowing!
  5. Apply for your marriage license.
  6. Have your final dress fitting. Bring your maid of honor with you so they can learn how to bustle your dress. Take photos!
  7. Call wedding party members to make sure they have their outfits ready for the wedding. Plan for time to steam any getting ready outfits as well so they look great in your photos.
  8. Make any last minute adjustments with your vendors. For example, if your guest count has come under your original prediction, let your venue know so they may drop unnecessary tables. Your caterer will appreciate this update as well!
  9. Mail rehearsal dinner invitations.
  10. Purchase accessories that you will want to wear on your big day.
  11. Purchase guest book, pen, and other wedding accessories including toasting glasses, cake knife/server, and ring pillow.
  12. Delegate small wedding day tasks.
  13. Create boxes of each table’s decor by number to make for a seamless set-up/break-down.
  14. Set-up a day of wedding schedule. If you’ve hired a wedding coordinator, they may be able to assist you on creating your timeline. Be as detailed as possible.
  15. Give a copy of said timeline to each of your vendors so they are aware of the flow of the day and won’t have to come to you to ask.
  16. Schedule a meeting with your DJ to go through your chosen playlist, key songs, the do not play list, and the day's order of events.
  17. Email a photo-list to your photographer.
  18. Pick up wedding rings.
  19. Most importantly, make sure to enjoy a date night together to get relaxation in before the big day. With all the stressful planning, it’s easy to lose sight of what the entire day is about; The joyous union of the two of you!
Things will change and there may be aspects that we simply cannot plan for nor control. Like the weather, for example! Just remember to take one thing at a time. Getting overwhelmed will solve nothing. One thing I always tell brides is that only you know exactly how the day was “supposed” to go. Guests will only see all of the beautiful details and be none the wiser. Although it is much easier said than done try to relax, let go, focus on the good, and be present in the moment no matter what!
